Activity:

Research associate on the project involving epitaxy and Raman characterization of 2D phosphorus allotropes (Phosphorene) in collaboration with Università Degli Studi di Milano-Bicocca

Curriculum:

Gabriele has recently got a PhD in Materials Science and Nanotechnology from the University of Milano-Bicocca discussing a thesis on 'Two Dimensional Phosphorus: from the Synthesis Towards the Device Integration' ( Supervisor Dr. Alessandro Molle, Tutor Prof. Emiliano Bonera).

Gabriele received a Master's degree in Physics from the University of Milano in 2017. His master thesis activity involved a study on the optical and electronic properties of plasmonic metal/semiconductor thin-film nanocomposites for solar cells applications (Advisor Dr. M. Di Vece, Co-Advisor Prof. C. Lenardi). During his Master's degree, Gabriele spent also a 6-months abroad study period in Germany at the Technical University of Munich (TUM) (March-September 2014).

After graduation, Gabriele won a PhD scholarship at the University of Milano-Bicocca. His PhD research activity involved optical (Raman, Uv-Vis) spectroscopy, epitaxial-growth (MBE), and surface characterizations (STM and XPS) of novel 2D graphene-like materials (also known as Xenes) with a specific focus on 2D phosphorus allotropes (Epitaxial Phosphorene and Black Phosphorus). As part of the PhD research project, Gabriele completed also a 6-months abroad research experience (March-September 2019) in the United States where he has been trained to process epitaxial Xenes grown on metals (e.g. Silicene) into devices in the Clean-Room facilities of the Microelectronic Research Center of the University of Texas-Austin (Prof. Akinwande Nano-Research Group).
