Agrate Unit
The Agrate Unit of IMM (a.k.a. Laboratorio MDM) is hosted within the R&D site of STMicroelectronics in Agrate Brianza, nearby Milan.
Our mission is to perform cutting edge research addressed to the development of materials, new architectures and new fabrication approaches for nanoelectronics devices and microsystems.
Research scientists and technologists with complementary background work together combining experimental, theoretical and technological approaches on topics that include new concepts for non-volatile memories and neuromorphic architectures; self-assembled and low dimensional (2d- 1d- and 0d) advanced materials; silicon-based quantum technology and spintronics; materials for MEMS, sensors and ultrascaled microelectronic devices.
The laboratory (360 m2, including 100 m2 class 1000 clean room) is equipped with state-of-the-art facilities for the growth, characterization and fabrication of materials and devices.
Research staff at Agrate Unit is engaged in the participation and promotion of collaborative projects, international networks and committees, as well as in the organization of conferences and symposia.
In collaboration with nearby Universities, the Unit is also very active in training PhD, master and bachelor students on exciting topics related to solid state physics and nanoelectronics, attractive for both academic and industry career (check availability here),
Staff consists of approximately 35 people, including 14 researchers and technologists, 3 technicians and 3 administrative, as well as several post-doc fellows, PhD and master students.
